I mention DMS as they have done my Range rover TDV8 and it runs spot on..It was a new car, and was DMS'd pre delivery so didnt bother to build up any mile before getting it done. Makes a big differance on that motor bhp goes from 260 something upto 328 or something & torque shoots up massively, totally transforms the car
Was quoted approx £1k to get the golf done, quoted bhp upto 200 - 210 I believe, not sure on torque, but again would think a big gain would be seen. DMS seem to be pretty good with a faultless reputation, only thing that is stopping me is that Im not sure I am really to bothered about the extra performance as I only go 4 miles to work in the golf, and other than that its pretty short journeys as a second car, we shall see...anyone had theirs DMS'd or heard any reports?

Whats DMS warranty like ? Do they take over from the car manufacturer and see out the remainder of the warranty, or do they play the blame game like everyone else and you end up getting nowhere ?

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Apparantly the DMS map is undetectable, and should your car go in for a service & they overwrite the map then they will come out & redo it again FOC
In the case of the Range rover, it does not affect the RR warranty at all as they dont know its there, and my feedback from other owners is that RR dealers are quite happy to cover the vehicle under warranty even knowing its been DMS'd
In fact oddly previous to this vehicle I had a RR sport that only had one previous owner and that was Farnells MD, turned out that had been mapped, I noticed it seemed very quick, so called the sales guy & he told me 'oh yeah the MD had it remapped with DMS'
So generally it would appear that its ok all round to have it done, wether you tell the insurance co or not is another matter...I wouldnt as its undectable anyway and I couldnt see it been a factor in a crash anyway
It makes such a big diff to the RR that it needs to be done on that car, as I said the problem I have is justifying such an expense on the golf, when I dont really think I would get the benefit from the extra performance....as you say Kev if I wanted a faster car I would of bought a differant one not a GTD. The GTD's performance is absolutley fine for what I use the car for

How can it be undetectable? I thought this wasn't possible as the firmware has a flash count?
The remappers I've asked about VW overwriting the map have said they would do it again for free.

It is detectable...

The only misconception here is the term is confused with "they are never looking for it".....but worse case scenario is still that you get a totall loss and they investigate your car...you might be F*cked...insurances/lease companies they all want to pay as little as possible if you get my drift
