STAGE II INFO...who has it/gets it/wants it
« on: 10 July 2010, 12:42 »
Soon I am probably compensated again via my dealer. :lipsrsealed:.....and since I ordered nearly everything with this car I was wondering about getting a Stage II via ABT....

I read on another forum that from Stage I going to II  is only setting the parameters(so that is cheap)....I wonder why ABT did not do that in the first place....

Who has it and what does it imply,......I see e.g. some Stage II's with a complete new exhaust system getting the price up obviuosly.... :undecided:.

Is it that ABT - REVO - APR - JD etc give a different meaning to Stage II or is such a term standardized.

Stage II requires additional hardware to gain the benefits.

Like most stage II software a turbo back exhaust is required on the TSI engine.

PS - I have stage II on mine with the Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust and ITG Air Intake.

APR REQUIRES you to have a down pipe for stage 2. I think everyone does.  You can have a stock cat back but why?  They have to check yes you have a DP to install the program.

Because the OEM downpipe is the most restrictive part of the exhaust, with the raise in boost pressure, air flow etc its need to be more free flowing to run correctly.

stg 2 programming's main function is to delete the cat deficiency errors (CEL) caused by high flow cats. Main gains come from free flow. Downpipe replacement is usually suffice but mated with a proper catback (which makes a full turboback system), gains are optimized.

Where stg2 shines is higher rpms, highway rolls. It makes noticeable difference.

I would toss between APR and Revo depending on whoever is closer to you. At the end of the day, I would take the extra trip to APR though
