i keep the bits of the block in the car

put it back together without the broken rod, it will run fine!

sell it on ebay  " Engine runs fine, slight missfire, otherwise good runner"

it actauly drove down the road and into workshop on three    was quite supriseing as the oil pump was smashed

When i  was training to be a mechanic, i was training with a real odd bloke who ran his XUD 305 derv with no oil, he caused us all nothing but problems,  it was knocking so i said "Oh its just your tappets, rev the tits off it until it stops"  so he did and sure enough it threw a rod!  i said it will miss for a few miles,  so drive it home and it will clear up,  the dosy git drove 8 miles home and made it too! trail of oil behind him. 

This is going back a few years by the way, i would never so such a thing now

helped a 460 HP cummins N14 blow itself to bits couplle of weeks ago.  but  was in much need of a big unfixable blow up.   

had more use and abuse at the hands of muppets than you chould shake a stick at, i rebuilt a few times and it was a good motor. but they had frozen it a few times and cooked it meany more inbetween and sometimes they just to far gone so it's best if they bang so you can swap them out for a diffrent one thats sound  rather than haveing to keep trying to fix the unfixable.
