Check engine warning light
« on: 30 June 2010, 13:08 »
My engine light flashed on the dash yesterday for all of about a minute (probably less), shortly after I started the car.  I was still at low speed and idle (heavy traffic).  I could feel a slight judder while the warning light showed.  Anyway, the light went away very quickly, along with the judder.  No reappearance of it today.  Should I be worried, or do these things just happen now and then?

BTW, the car is a 2006 MkV GTI

Run Vag-Com on it to check for fault codes. It will have logged a fault code even though its gone off.

So, bring it to a VW service place then, I guess?

Thanks guys.  It's actually going for its NCT (National Car Test - Irish equivalent of MOT) today!  I wonder if they'll find anything!

Ask them if they have a diagnostics system and they can code read for you. It wont be picked up on M.O.T unless something goes wrong while it's there.
