Indicator relay
« on: 23 June 2010, 14:27 »
Hey folks,

My Dad's got an issue with his TDI Bora. When you use the inicators for the first time each journey the relay keeps ticking on and off for the rest of the journey without actually effecting the inidicators. The relay sounds like it's burried somewher eup under the dash, I've had a look but I can't find it.

Anyone else had this problema nd got any tips? He's looking at selling it soon and would like to get it sorted. On that note anyone wanting a cheap PD130 6 speed Bora let me know. It's done 180K but it'll be going for peanuts.

the relay for the indicators is the hazard light switch just pull it out and replace!

I have the same problem. I've replaced the combined hazard/indicator relay and it didn't fix the problem.
I asked the question on here and got no answer.
I trawled round on the web and found a possible answer.
Apparently the contacts in the indicator stalk start to shed small amounts of metal, which short out the switch contacts.
The solution is to spray contact cleaner into the switch.
I've not yet done this so I can't vouch for it.
I'll have a go at it at the weekend and let you know.
