Problems removing battery
« on: 22 March 2006, 12:34 »
Hi, went out to start my car up after it had been lying for 2 weeks, and found that the battery was dead. When I tried to remove the battery for charging, the bloody alarm went off as soon as I disconected the earth lead. I've tried disconnecting the battery with the alarm armed and dissarmed, the bonnet alarm switch held down and released, and even tried disconnecting the other leads that attach to the positive terminal, all of which result in the alarm going off. I've also noticed that the alarm and immobiliser warning lights on the dash no longer light when the alarm is armed. The car is a 1996 Mk3 GTi fitted with a conlog alarm. Can anyone tell me how to remove the battery without the alarm sounding?
Regards,
alanb

switch the alarm off and turn the ignition on, and then remove the earth lead!

i've never heard conlog but a quick google search indicated that they are now owned by omniflex

they may be able to help you...
