Think i have found my lumpy idle problem

I noticed my brake servo doesnt hold and vac in it when the engine dies, and yesturday when i switched off the engine i heard a hissing noise..  I looked at the servo and the bloody pipe has been sealed up with electrical tape!  its on the bend where it pushes into the grommet on the servo, not looked to close yet as i dont wanna disturb it to much.

Anyway if its leaking out that fast then surly its going to be sucking in air too.. would such a small amount cause lumpy idle?

any air leak is bad, best you get down the scrappy!

Did better than that, made my own 

I was in work at the time, we had a coil of servo hose luckily so i re did it all and its spot on now!  idle is better but not perfect, but i think its as good as an AGG engine will get to be honest.

Air flow sensor is the next step to hopefully have the engine right.   Some one had taped up the servo end of the hose, clearly split and badly taped up, scary that!  was done at a garage too.  I have a receipt for some work done to "investigate poor running and brakes getting stiff"  Which i presume would have been down to that.

I had the same problem with mine. Ended up getting a new pipe, which cost £25 from VW Did make a difference to running tho. Good work on the replacement, did you keep the valve at the throttle body end?

Yea check valve is still in place its much better now im not on edge waiting in traffic now thinking its about to die on me lol
