Flashing cooling temp warning light?
« on: 16 December 2004, 11:04 »
I am having problems with the water temperature warning light (red LED) on my '91 gti cabriolet. It flashes at random points and appears to be a fault with either the temperature sensor/wiring or level sensor/wiring as I have checked the water level which is okay and the temperature reading on the mfa and water temperture indicator are both giving reasonable readings of 80-95 degrees and mid way on the needle indicator.

I am looking for any information on where the temperture sensor is and wiring etc and also any help on what else could be wrong.

i had this problem with mine.found out it was the injection pipes touching the rocker cover causing the water  light to flash now and again.if your injector pipes are metal then this might be your problem.
