Cabrio Seals????
« on: 09 December 2004, 16:56 »
Hi guys, does anyone know where I would be able to get hold of some new seals for my cab?? I need the upper windscreen seal and also the 'wearable' ones which go on the windows at the bottom. Since I have had my hood renewed my cab leaks like a knacked washing machine  :embarassed:

I figure that since my car needs to go in for the new bumper etc I may as well treat it to a full respray and seal renewal at the same time - kinda a xmas pressie!!!!!

Thanks guys

Mixmasta, did renewing the hood cause you loads of probs then ? I'm thinking of renewing mine soon but it doesn't leak at the moment and I'd be gutted if it did after a new hood !
......now officially dubless.

hehehehe!!!!!

Yeah the hood was a bit of a problem altogether AND it was fitted by professionals(?) as part of an insurance job (vandalism damage to roof).Whilst they were doing this they damaged the header seal and made my car leak BADLY (albeit without admitting responsibility) My roof has never fitted or sat right since, I am renewing all of the seals as a precaution.

I could not tell you about all of the pitfalls when fitting a new roof as all I did was moan when it came back and wasn't good enough - can't be that hard to fit yourself if you take your time and ensure everything is on properly before securing, but that's from a naive prospective ;)

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Does anyoneknow where I can hold of some crystal clear front indicators and side repeaters, yetagain the local stores are completely out

Thanks for the advice mixmasta. As for the indicators and side repeaters have a look at www.awesome-gti.co.uk The side repeaters are in the mk2 section but I got some and they didnt look right in my opinion.  Euro car parts do side repeaters (see deals and discounts section) mine are from there but they have a yellow bubble in them that I dont like much so I'm on the look out for some better ones. Here's my side repeaters and clear lenses http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=random&cat=17640&pos=-1798 although there are also crystal indicators on awesomes site.

Thanks for that gibby, only problem is that Awesome have run out (awesome literally is my local supplier) and Im struggling to find any anywhere - have bought some other stuff and would really like to see my car complete when it comes out of the sprayers (apart from the new wheels which I am still deciding on) Hardly the end of the earth if I have to fit them later on next year

Thanks anyway tho!!!!!
