Interior Is Looking Very Gray! What To Use?

Hey,

Ok so im sorting out the exterior plastics on the big bumpers which have gone very grey tommorow with boiled linseed oil and probably pick up some black boot dye/polish too and give that a good go first as they are really really grey!

But then first thought was to use the same stuff on the interior too... still plastic and still will make it darker but then i read some more and this oil stuff is really sticky and i don't really fancy getting black hands from slightly wet or tacky boot dye/polish the next day either seeing as the wind and heat inside is limited anyhow.

So what do you all suggest? im all for buying these brand name products but figured seeing as you've managed to find a cheap better alternative for the outside maybe you have a magical bean for the inside too?

meguiars tyre gel mate works a treat but only use a small amount as its very shiny

Will bring them back to black or just put a shiny coat over them that will eventually start rubbing off alot quicker? Or does it 'soak' into the dask and dye it too so the wear and tear is alot higher?

i use it on my bumpers and it bought the black back out but try a small area first if your not sure, i use on tyres trim and dash

applying coats of these items on interior plastics will more than likely lead to streaking and uneven finish.

first off, just how bad is your interior? maybe some pics would be an idea so we can see how faded it is?

i'd start with giving it a bloody good clean with an APC (eg. meguiars APC) and then using a product like Poorboys Natural Look... much better for interiors as it leaves an even finish.

I have used many products on interiors... the one thing I have learnt is that the more high gloss you go the more dust you attract and the more uneven the finish with egdes and vents missed out etc... keep it natural and the finish looks a hell of a lot better.

Just finished doing the exterior with the linseed oil and damn it looks alot better but the back bumper is alot lighter than the other plastics so think that one need's a second coat! But still looking alot better and just leaving it to dry off in the lovely hot french weather

Interior is shabby and needs a good clean all over really.... will give it a stiff scrub with a little bit of warm water today and tape up the electrics so they don't get wet and see if it looks any better! If not then looks like i will have to opt for the expensive cleaning shizzle!

Ha ha!

The srubbing with warm water got rid off all the mud and grime which was baked into the plastics and dash after years of wear and tear and brought it back up to a reasonable standard.

Headed down to the local french halfords (equivalent) and picked up some interior back to black alternative and got spraying and it's looking alot better now! Another go with this spray tomorrow and it will be almost back to factory black
