Corrado/golf 16v suspension
« on: 23 April 2010, 23:27 »
Hi guys

I'm coverting my golf 16v back to concourse and the next step is the suspension. I have sourced some corrado 16v suspension at a decent price and was wondering what the difference was between the Golf 16v, If any?

I popped in to gsf who have told me there is a difference however I can't be sure. The set up for the golf g60 is the same as the corrado 16v according to them and tbh I'm more confused than ever, I need to pick the brains of all the beautiful forum users before I make the wrong decision.

Anyway as always... Any help will not go unappreciated :)

Corrado is heavier, so although the form-factor is the same as a Golf2 you might find a Golf2 will ride a bit high and be rather firm with Corrado suspension.

G60 Golfs have different top mounts to the lower Golfs.

If you weren't going concourse I'd say get some -40 springs on there with Golf3 top mounts on the front - G3 top mounts are different again to the G60 G2 mounts.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

i had mk3 vr6 suspension on my mk2 16v and it wasn't nearly as hard as i'd liked so just go for it. running golf 3 vr6 topmounts too.

early rado front shocks are the same as used on the G60 MK2, rear shocks on early corrado are same as G60/16v mk2.
no matchup for front springs on MK2, at the back rado springs are the same as 4 door G60/16v (my references to corrado meaning the 4 pot ones, 6 pot had MK3 GTI type suspension)

Corrado
535 413 031 d - front shock >> S-000 051 (up to 07-94)
191 411 105 aa - front spring all non-auto/ac
191 411 105 ab/af - front spring auto/ac

191 513 033 J - rear shock
191 511 115 F - rear spring >> M 035 000
1H5 511 115 K - rear spring N 000 001 >> (from 01/08/91)

golf
1H0 413 031 A - g2 all
535 413 031 d - front shock G60 mk2

191 411 105 S - spring g60
191 411 105 T - spring 16v

191 513 033 J - rear shock g60/16v
191 511 115 F - rear spring G60/16v 4 door
191 511 115 E - rear spring G60/16v 2 door

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I'm gonna go for it.. Can I just confirm on whether it's going to be a straight swop from the raddo to my golf. And if my golf 16v topmounts ate compatible with the corrado suspension.

Thanks :)

all a straight swap aye, fit the G60 top mounts as well as they're a bit beefier than std and fit straight on with all the bits you have already
