MK3 GTI INTERIOR LIGHT DELAY (STAYS ON)
« on: 29 November 2004, 12:04 »
I am having a very strange problem on my 1997 Mk3 Gti 16V

The interior light is in the Delay position so it delays when opening and closing the doors.

But then the door is closed most of the time it stays switched on even when the doors are closed and it is locked it stays on.

Its not until the ignition sis swiched on that it turns off.

Doesn't do this every time

but enough to worry about

I am wondering is there a relay to control this?
Or is the control for this in the light unit itself?

Wouldn't expect it to be the pin switches as they are either on or off and mechanical and there is a lot of travel between on and off.

any ideas or experiences people??

Having the exact same problem myself, but only intermittantly!

Thought mine might be something to do with the CAT 1 Alarm/Immobiliser, coz i'm also getting central locking problems. Where the doors lock then unlock again. Which might be my key fob button.

But i dont know either! Sorry!

Anybody got any ideas?
