Yeah you always need to tell your insurer about anything which is non standard, even tinted windows.

If you tried to make a claim and something wasn't declared they would void your insurance and you would have to cover all costs yourselfs. Including your damage, tp damage and personal injury claims.

With us with some of our underwriters it makes barely any difference if any at all (depending on what you've done)

Best bet is to always enquire first before you do it and if your not happy have a shop around and see what you can find.

Hope this helps

If you're with Admiral/Elephant/Bell, they tend to only charge the admin fee and not really increase due to cosmetic mods. I'm with Adrian Flux now on a modified car policy and I can change anything I like cosmetically willy nilly with no fees at all. :afro:

They will be the same as Lloyds, a max of 3 mods is all they will cover.

Depends on the company, insurance companies are money grabbing scumbags. They want to charge me MORE for putting wheels on that cost LESS than the ones I took off, you do the maths.

Have to say that's a bit harsh - they're not set up for modified vehicles as the bulk of their business is for standard cars, which is why they charge more for every time you want to change your policy and won't do more than a couple of mods. No sense in blaming the company for not being able to compete at a price that a specialist offers when it's not their core business. Chances are that the number of declared modified vehicles on their books count as less than 0.1% of their entire business.

If you want specialist cover, go to a specialist.
