Yes with a lot of work, you will not get k-jet to work so you would need to find a Digi engine.

Seems a lot of work for a little gain also your gearbox will not fit plus all the wiring and ecu etc.

a lot of work for little gain. wouldnt be worth the effort unless it was a 2.0 16v or better...

even then, you got to uprate A LOT of stuff. brakes, suspension, fueling, etc....

Right so next option is to build an engine pref carb(s) so which is the strongest engine out of the 8v and 16v mk2 1.8 gti engines and which one would convert to carb (twin 40's?) ie will i have to fill and injectore holes in on the heads ect ect?
i think the 1.4's cranck might last another 1000-2000 miles before it breaks out to see day light so if i bye an old engine stripp, inspect and rebuild with a little bit of extra tlc and some nice parts and also rebuild a gear box to mach which wiring loom could i use to convert it to carbs as aposed to injection.
sorry for the questions but want to go back to my younger days of spannering and a time when people used to ask me to build them a mini engine as apposed to sat a desk all day and remembering and dreaming!!!
want carbs as easyer to tune.
will the engine mounts need changing too? i'm used to just swapping mini engine and they all just fit the standard mounts so this is new teratree.
cheers stuart  :nerd:

the 1.4 box wont work with a big block engine, neither will the shafts. will need to get a rod or cable shift gearbox to match your engine and you'll also need 1.8-2.0 MK3 shafts.
Fitting either rod or cable box will require you change all the gear linkages as well, cable shift has added complication of being hydro clutch, but can convert to cable by fitting seat abf hydro->cable conversion bits.

engine/box mounts I'd change for new ones while the engien is out, then you'll want engine/box mount brackets to suit the engine/box combo you will be using.
