VW Electrical connectors?
« on: 11 April 2010, 17:32 »
Hi

Where do you get them from?  I think VW only sell the loom for £500....?

Anybody breaking a mk3???  After injector loom, possibly a broken wire in one of mine - when I wiggle it it works ok.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

I'm interested in this too. I get a Throttle sensor fault in Vag Com which causes cutting out. However, sometimes a wiggle of the loom by the injectors sorts it out, albeit temporarily.

So I am wondering if the problem is actually the loom, and not the throttle sensor.

vw sell the bare plugs, the pins on their own and pins with a length of wire crimped on.  if you want the most common type of pin/plug, you can get them from vehicle wiring products. they're 'junior timer' type connectors, just make a note of how many locking tabs each plug has. I bought a load of 2 pin plugs to make MK2 relayed lighting looms, then found the vag spotlight plugs have 2 lock tabs, and the plugs I bought all had 1!

http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/connectors/housings.php

I bought:
192147     2 pole female housing     £1.20
192175     Female terminal     £0.52

The housing will fit most 2 pin connections, except the spot light plugs and a few other lighting connectors. you'll see what I mean from pics, the one on VWP has the 1 locking tab on the top, but my spotlight plugs had 2!
The pins fit a wide range of VAG housings, I've used them all over. will fit the fusebox plugs and various others.  Shame they only do the 1 size, so cant be used for chunkier wires.
