sudden major vibrations

hi all,

anyone had similar problems mentioned in the subject, I started my car up and was driving normally when my car vibrates badly as if a belt connected to the engine is holding it back.  Especially in low rev to about 2k, i feel a slight loss in power.  After coming to a stop, i opened the bonnet and saw it vibrating severely.  Any ideas to what may be the cause?  It also feels like the vibrations from not enough torque in a higher gear.

For something sudden it could be electrical. May be coilpack? i got a code reader if your local, i see you in London too/

Thanks for the suggestion, I've got. Vag-com too but doesn't always work but  will give it a shot
