Is this whiteworm?
« on: 11 April 2010, 17:26 »
Been out cleaning the car today, and think one of my Monza's has the startings of 'whiteworm' on it - can somebody confirm? It's only small, less that 1/2cm.

Bearing in mind I've only had the car since November, if it is whiteworm where do I stand with my dealers? Could I get the alloy changed under warranty? Also, what causes this - I've been very careful not to scratch or touch the kerbs!

Thanks guys

If you can't feel it with your finger, then its whiteworm.
It shouldn't feel like a scratch or dent - as the whiteworm is eating away under the surface.

Get it back up to the dealer and get a replacement ordered!

Thanks

I've just had a check and I can feel it a little, but it certainly doesn't feel like a scratch, it's almost as if it's smooth - does that make sense?

How quickly is it likely to spread? Is it treatable?

It's certainly in the right place for a whiteworm attack - on the join between the painted and the polished area.
Get it down to the dealer ASAP and see if they try and fob you off.

Or a monkey at the dealers has hit it with a wheelbrace when checking wheelnuts on the PDI
