Done about 40 miles before.
As for the sh!te in the bottom of the tank, thats what the filter is for and proper servicing!

when i went to test drive my golf it was on the fuel warning light.

to makes things worse the guy was a good 5 miles form the nearest filling station lol! glad i made it lol

Well, you actually have 7 litres of fuel remaining at the light (or approx. 1.5 gallons), so I would expect to get anywhere between 30-55 miles depending on the type of route/traffic/driving style etc.
