Koni question
« on: 26 March 2010, 19:20 »
Hi all,

Just a quick question, when i bought my car it had a koni kit(shocks & springs) Im sure the guy said it only lowered it 20mm(?) I want to lower it more but what i want to ask is will the shocks still be ok as they are about 3 years old but they havent covered that great a mileage, 20k, tops! fancied -50mm springs!

Opinions please

If you drop that much you will need, new arbs, shocks should work but you would be better off changing all and then sell what you have now complete.
MK4 GTI T AGU, REVO Remap, BMC carbon box, Miltek cat back, Forge diverter valve, THS FR3 engine/Gbox mounts, Some random alloys, lowered on coilovers.
192bhp 212lbft torque.

As above, asking a bit much of the shocks to be honest.

thats your best option, but then as stated above you'll either need adjustable droplinks or uprated ARB so it doesnt scrub on the driveshaft, also you may want to replace the front wishbone rear bushes with Audi TT solid rubber ones as the standard golf bushes will split under the extra stress.

Also replace the strut tops and bearings when fitting the coilovers.
