could be the coolant o'ring, tho if it was that it would run uber rich for ages on a cold start. if when its been running for absolutly ages it starts running better then that is an indication the oring has gone. its all in my faq tho
to check for an air leak on the flange, wiggle the carb when its running. if engine note changes then replace the flange.
