Engine swap, injection question NOW SORTED

Hi all

I have recently bought a 1989 8v GTI with a shot engine

After much thinking, i have decided to simply swap the engine for an replacement one

I am new to GTI's so my first question is probably a dumb one !

How do i know what injection system my car is running? I believe that the engine i will need will depend on what injection system i am running? i.e. they are not all the same

So how can i tell?

I will have loads more questions so thanks in advance !

digifant on an 89, but any MK1/2/Scirocco 1.8 8v gti lump will do, just swap the diffo bits over. if its just the bottom end you could use a 1.8 carb bottom end and swap your head on
