More to the point. Use that £1000 for a 16v GTi, its the next best thing after a VR6.

Seen a very clean 8v near by it's on the bay so waiting to see if it reaches reserve or otherwise I'll be PMing to try and arrange a haggle. It's at £1100 but not reached reserve, done 85000, had some trick bits done suspension, exhaust. Reckon it's worth £1,500 buy it now? Still looking but just wanna make sure I'm not gonna end up with a motor i can't change anything on. Got brother in law whose a mechanic so if i need a helping point he'd help me out.

If you just want a nice mk3 then 8v is fine but if you want quick go 16v, bare in mind the 8v is only 115bhp and the mk3s are relatively heavy
1983 mk1, 2.0, TSR pack C head, Eaton M45 - work in progress
1990 mk2 GTD, boost, fuel, soot
16v GTi mk3; chilli red, 16" Audi Speedlines, coilies
1934 Ford Dragster, 200mph in 6 seconds.

I've got a c2 vts at the moment but gonna let the missus have that so I can have some dub fun. Just wanna make sure i get the right one, don't want to buy a lemon. Making sure I get a good one because I want to keep it for awhile. I'd ideally want to learn how to do stuff to this car, mechanically-wise.
