Engine swap....
« on: 09 March 2010, 14:44 »
So just spoke to the insurance company, gave them my two options of engine swap:

2.0 16v ABF

or

2.0 8v bottom end with 1.6SR head (all from a mk3) which would eventually be put on throttlebodies, but not straight away.

Basically for either engine, they wanted £188 on top of my current insurance, exactly the same for both engines. So summertime might = ABF time :s

Dont think it matters much on the engine, just the fact that once the engine is in it will be classed as modified etc.

Wouldnt it be easier and cheaper just to buy a mk2 valver mate?

Well he said it was classed on what car it came out of, but I agree with you, it does kinda make sense that a modified car is a modified car.

It would be easier, but not neccessarily cheaper. If I bought a valver, it's gonna cost me at least £1000 for the car, gonna have to cancel my insurance, take out a new policy which could as far as I know, be more expensive than my current one plus the modified excess.

I could probably get the engine, loom, and everything I need for about £500
