Armour door plates
« on: 28 October 2004, 13:39 »
I'm after a set of armour door plates for my mk1 gti. I keep reading that there are some which are stronger than others. Does anyone know know where I can get the strongest, best quality ones from?

Cheers

I got mine from Stuart at Euro Car Parts (see section in main forum) mine were not cheap, ?40 odd pound but I dont know if they are the strongest about but they are the most expensive I've seen, I know that doesnt always mean the best but mine seem strong and to be honest I've not compared them to any others. Stuart will give you 10% discount too if you mention this site.  :)

Try GSF
http://www.gsfcarparts.com/
The 'BQ' (Best quality) are the ones to go for and from memory mine were something like ?18.50.

I don't know if gibby paid ?40 for same thing but I have seen the same ones GSF do for a lot more money!!

Aye, I think I paid over the odds for mine and I didn't shop around and I didn't know much about them when I bought mine and as I'd just had some toe rag try to gain entry with a screwdriver I needed some pronto.  :(

Don't blame you gibby - even ?40 is better than losing your motor!

Cheers guys.
Took Adam's advice and ordered a set from C&R, and they came next day! Cost just under ?40 though so maybe I paid over the odds, but at least they're on now.

Dont worry about it keefusgti, ?40ish means that they should be the top quality ones and anything to keep the thieving little gets out your motor so a wise investment.  :)
