Where to find an unmollested Mk1 in the UK?

I live in France (but I'm English) and am looking for a Mk1 GTI, preferably RHD.

It has to be in at least 'average condition', but I don't want concours standards, as these command silly proces. I am happy to do relatively minor restauration work myself, but no chassis welding It should be original, pre 1980 (small rear lights, checker cloth seats, etc). No silly exhausts, slam jobs or garish resprays, please. Ideally stock red, white, or silver.

Can anyone give me some pointers to good sources in the UK (clubs, classifieds, etc.). I have trailed through AutoTrader and the classifieds on this site, but there are hardly any Mk1s
