Oi Kev!

Those of you that have bought a GTD and are trying to defend it as a GTI equivalent are kidding yourselves. It is not and never will be a GTI.

^^^^ You've been superceded...

It's an excellent warm hatch, with excellent running costs, but diesel is (and always will be) a compromise.

Give it another 5-10 years though and this thread might be irrelevant....

Nooooo, how could you not quote me in your sig, that got me deep right there mate

Wouldn't worry, i'm sure there will be another GTD thread that'll give me a gem soon.
I was told today by VW that they are going to phase out petrol engines in the 10-15 years?? Hybrid's & diesel, are going to take over ??

If I could afford to, I'd buy a 500hp Porsche Turbo now and keep it in storage for 15 years, then get it out and blast around making a racket while everyone else is pootling around in dandelion-juice-powered invalid carriages

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

. . . . and would fuel it with petrol that cost £56.87 a litter.

Good idea though :D

There is a film with Sylvester Stallone in it where he plays a cop that is frozen and woken up a couple of hundred years later. By the time he wakes up everyone drives electric golf buggies. The films ends with a huge chase when Sylvester finds an American v8 muscle car in a museum.
