This problem occurs if you are constantly doing short journeys! i,e. the oil does not get hot enough to work properly! therefore you get this mayo problem under the cap!

another problem is that you have somehow got condensation or moisiture in there, and the oil has reacted with it!

I would advise taking the car for a very long drive to see if it clears it!

Or another advisable would be to drain all oil, stick new filter in aswell, and clean as much mayo off the top as you can!

take it out for a bit of a kicking for an hour or so see if that clears it up. Or wipe it off the lid and see if it comes back in a couple of days

ive always done the service as to the service hand book at the correct millage etc so i knw its been looked after an its got a full service history from the 1st owner me being the second
as for giving the cap a wipe thats not really gonna help coz i only do, do small trips
is there some sort of test i can do my dad seems to think that there is a chemical that you can put in the system an then it will react or somthing along them lines......

and as for giving it a bit of a kicking its a 2.0 u always have to give it a kicking  its slow......! lol
