« on: 23 February 2010, 14:54 »
Hi all,

yesterday i went to work parked up on the car park everything was good.
nipped home at dinner to accept delivery for my new fog/indicator set everything fine.
finish work at half five and the car won't start had to get the jump leads out and get my dad over.

this mornin go to work everythings fine.
try to nip out and get some dinner and the old girl wont go, had to get her towed to the garage

when i put the key in and turn its just not doin anything "not a sausage" as the mechanic put it lol

does anyone know what it might be ? has this happened to anyone before?
i love my mk3 and i'm not letting her go without a fight so i'll do what needs doin to get her goin again.

cheers.

this could be a whole multitude of things and your description is pretty vague. you'd be better off having a root around in the maintenance section of this group to get some tips and ideas of whar are common mk3 faults. Also if you can try and get the car connected to a vagcom computer for diagnostics.

hmmm very strange on this, could be a number of things, as he said ^^^ have a souct, my 1st thought would of been the battery or Alterator but you already said thats fine, it could be that your Starter motor is bugged, try this, open your drivers door, take off the handbreak and pop the car into reverse, then (witht he engine off ofc) rock the car back and forth, if you hear a click, then the car starts fine, you need a new starter motor mate.

Hope this helps :)

Being logical, that blown fuse may be a pointer to something...

I wonder if even a worn key in the lock barrel might do it too, try wiggling the key?

as said though, it could be any number of things.

I'd get checking in the engine bay for loose or corroded terminals as a cheap first!...

+1 on the key barrel.. they can get a crappy connection sometimes..... if you get it started, wiggle the key, if it stalls then its the culprit. if not...... could be a number of faults... get it on vag.com
