Disabling automatic arming of the immobiliser?
« on: 21 February 2010, 22:53 »
Hi guys,

Today I bought my first Gti  and I love it, theres one thing that is bugging me tho. As soon as you take the key out of the ignition the immobiliser arms itself. The only way I can get the immobiliser to deactivate again is to lock the doors and then unlock them with the key fob. Is there an easier way of deactiviating the immobiliser when it does this? Or even better setting it so that the immobilier only arms when I use the key fob?

I think it's a scorpoin 918 alarm?? (the key fob has 2 buttons and from what i've read thats the one, but correct me if i'm wrong!)

Thanks in advance

Dom

It sounds like you have the same system as me. Mine is a Laserline 996 which operates as you've described but immobilises 30 seconds after the key is removed plus locks the doors and rolls the windows up 30 seconds after exiting the car. This can be a pain in the arse if you forgot to take the keys out as my local garage did. If you do have this system you can't disable the auto immobilise feature, however if you turn the ignition to the second position and then press the button it will deactivate without having to lock and unlocked.
It took me a while to figure that out when i first got mine.

Good luck
