Am I right in saying that the mudflaps for the GTI have to have their wheels removed so that they can be fitted ?
The back ones yes. The front ones you can sort of do by turning the wheels.

Yes as Snoopy says,
I fitted the front ones the other day and they can be done with the wheels on by putting steering on full lock, but i was swapping my wheels over to winter wheels so did them at the same time as the wheels where off, (easy to fit 10mins each)
didn't fit any rear ones but wheels will have to be removed to get the torx head driver in

Mk6 Gti Gone but not forgtten

I have to admit I dont like them fitted to the mk6, I have then on the mk5 and the gravel and dirt that gets behind them has put me off getting them fitted to my GTD when it turns up.

I know what you meen about that with the front ones. I took ours back off and got some of the sticky back clear film from helfrards to help protect the paint in that area. The same stuff they use when fitting side skirts.
