help -Tie rod end thread spinning

Hi guys,  I'm in the process of changing my front wheel bearing- today the tie rod end bolt loosened no problem but then as it was nearly off the whole shaft/thread started spinning I've tried to tighten agian and tried to heat up the nut but is is stuck. Whatever I do the nut spins the thread. I think I'm gonna have to cut it off.
Now finally my question, does this mean the tie rod is broken or can I re use once the nut is off?

if ur talking about the track rod end bolt that bolts to the hub i normally tap it in with a hammer then get a bar and put a bit of wieght on it while undo might have to tap in a couple ect but normally works for me

Thanks but it's the part that attaches to the steering column at one end and the top of the steering knuckle- it started undoing but then got stuck on all the rust and crap
just wondered if it's still ok to use once I get the bolt off

theres a flat on the arm that you can put a spanner on to stop it turning, it will be fine to use again!

I assume you mean the outer end?
It is a tapered ball, so hit the top end(the end which doesn't have the nut on) with a hammer until the ball sticks, then undo the nut.

To remove the track rod from the steering rack you need to hold the flats on the track rod, and undo the large nut underneath the track rod gaiter.

To remove the TRE from the track rod - there is flats on the track rod that you can put a spanner on to prevent spinning.

To remove the TRE from the wheel bearing housing, lever the top gently to undo the nut, then to remove from the wheel bearing housing, do not hit the threads upwards, just hit the side of the wheel bearing housing a few times with a heavy hammer.

as above, except removing track rod from rack method above only works for manual rack, with the PAS rack you have to hold the rack in a vice (the actual toothed bit that moves in and out) then use a large spanner to undo the track rod. this is to prevent you putting stress on the rack internals, as there is no lock nut holding the track rod on its just threaded on as far as it will go, plus since the threads have threadlock on they can be pretty tight.
