SP3 and FPR 4Bar
« on: 29 October 2004, 12:59 »
Hi all,

I have a couple of questions regarding my Revo chip upgrade, I've had it in for about 2 weeks now, and have no complaints.

Altho....before I bought the Remap I went for the 5 hour free trial that is on offer, After sampling this trial I was sold and went into my local dealer and bought the full remap....I'm convinced that the trial version of the software is not the same as the full version altho my car is still very fast compared to standard i dosent seem to be as snappy as when i had the trial. the Revs do not shoot up as quick for instance.

Can anyone else shed some light on this or has noticed the same thing?

I'm considering buying the SPS3 unit, that way I can set the pressure to how I want it,,,,I'm not sure what the FPR 4bar upgrade is? no-one at the dealership mentioned it to me, is it something i have to pay for? and do i need to make any mods to my car to accomodate it?

thanks

Phil

Never had the trial software so cant comment on that.

The revo 4 bar software upgrade is free, but you need to buy the 4 bar FPR (fuel pressure regulator) either yourself.. of from your revo dealer (if they have any in stock) Look in the deals and discounts section on here.. inside the euro car parts board, Stuart had some of these for abour ?30, which is by far the cheapest i've ever seen them for.
If you haven't already upgraded it.. then it won't be long until the diaphragm in your DV splits under the pressure of the extra boost.. especially when you start upping it even more with the SPS3.

i had the 4bar mod done when i? got my revo in there m8.
along with the uprated recirculating DV.
and dont forget the revo map is a learning one
u drive it like a pussy and it will mapp up like a pussy :)
lol
i was told to give it some welly for it to learn my driving curb, which i do none stop anyways :P
i always run optimax fuel in there too, if i drop down to unleaded then i switch back to stock map until its all out the system, usually turn back to performance map after a couple of tanks of optimax.
may b when they did the trial, they had the boost, timing, fueling set higher than what it is set at now ?!?!
i have the sps3 controller and im on max all the way baby :) guys round my way in the scoobs cant believe their eyes  :o
if ur local u could use my sps3 if ya like :)
im in leeds

Hello mate,

I think they the trial prog must be set up to full whack, hopefully after I get the 4bar FPR done things should be back on the wild side again.

as for using your SPS3,, i could'nt really be further away..i'm right down near southampton!  thanks for the offer anyways!

Ok....here is the latest.

I have ordered a 4 bar FPR from stuart @ Eurocar parts..this should arrive tomorrow.

I understand these things are very easy to fit, but if someone wants to give me a clue as to where they are under the bonnet that would help.

Then on Thurs, i'm going up to Revo Hq in Northampton to have the FPR 4 bar prog loaded onto my car.

Hopefully come friday, i will be hitting warp speed!

Cheers

Soon as the engine cover comes off you cant miss it, right hand side, front of engine along side the fuel rail. pull the big clip out and unplug the piping.
Don't do it yourself though.. wait till you get there and let them change it for you at the same time as the remap... or your fuelling will be out of whack on the journey over there. Takes less than 2 minutes to swap them over.

hi,

Ok, the 4 bar FPR has now been installed I went up to Revo in Northampton, must say they are very very helpfull guys, and certainly know there stuff!

They plugged my car into there computer, and it showed up a error codewhich they cleared (apparently this should have been done by the dealership that mapped the Revo, but hey-ho!)

they then flashed my ECU with the 4 bar prog, plugged in a SPS3 device and set the boost to 9 and timing to 6, (these settings are for Optimoo fuel)

the car know runs perfect and has all its biteback again, just ask the BMW drivers i encountered on the way home!
