Yep I gotta smoker

Hi
I just bought a mkII gti16v,no rust,no dents very shiney,never raced or rallied one careful owner (hertz) for 500euros (yep Im in holland)no noise from the top or bottom of the engine so Im wondering if its the sump filter? the car has done 169.000 km.Does anyone have a scan of the haynes or other book as to prepare myself with what to expect(ordered one today but will take a week)

When does it smoke?
Is it just on start up and when decelerating, in which case it could be valve guide oil seals. Or, is it when accelerating, in which case it could be rings/worn bores.

I only smokes once it gets up to temperature and then constantly,theres no smoke when I start it but once its been running for about 10 minutes it gives real blue smoke.

Hmmm, sounds like the bores are worn, but before you condemn it, it would be well worth checking your breather and making sure thats OK.

If all is well then I think a compression check is in order:-
