Pre MOT checklist

Evening All

I am wanting to know if anyone has got a list of Pre mot checks to do prior to sending my car in for it's MOT, just so i can i give the car a once over a try and do any minor works.

hi im a mot tester my bes bet is check the following things

lights front and rear
washer and wipers
tyres
if you know of anything that is fail sort before you take it to be test

remember things like reverse light, rear wipers and spare wheels do not fall into the mot

Thanks for that, i have done all those checks and all seems well  did not know about spare wheel and reverse light not coming under test, learn something new everyday.what about having a jack etc for wheel change, is that included???

What are these cars like with regards to emissions, are they as strict on these old motors as they are on the newer stuff??


Any tips on lowering emissions??

emmissions will need to to be below 3.5 CO
the jack does not come under mot rules either

as regards to tuning what engine is it that you have ?

Hi there

It is the 1990,1.8L 16v model, is worth dropping some of that engine flush in with the petrol to clean it out a little or does that stuff not work?

Pre 90 = No cat =  no emmisions test
