mk2 vr6 conv

hi guys,
recently fell in love with my first dub - mk3 golf gti, but ive always liked the mk2. I would like to know whats involved in putting a vr6 in a mk2 and what I would need for the conv? My friend has a rallye with a vr6 in it and I absolutely love the sound of the vr6 and now I want one! Any help/knowledge would be greatly recieved, Many thatnks, Stuart.

plenty of peeps do it. Easiest i believe is a vr6 from a corrado because all the running gear and subframes and stuff are a straight swap.
Does take some mods but i reakon most people would tell you its worth it!

Might be worth looking at the 2L 16v ABF conversion too though...another mk3 inspired engine conversion!

The engines are the same, but you will need the front crossmember from a corradoor a mk2 one with a solid engine mount(rattles ahoy). The rear subrame needs a mk3 middle section with mk2 wishbones unless you want to use all mk3 stuff which would mean running a 5 stud pattern on yer wheels.  It all depends on whether the car its going into is a 90 spec or not, it makes the wiring 10x easier if it is.  ABF is worth looking at as said, but if its the sound you want there is nothing like a vr6 growl.
