MK3 s/s exhaust manifold fitments ???
« on: 19 January 2010, 00:36 »
Hey everyone,

Seen a couple of ebay s/s exhaust manifolds for sale but the sellers are a bit vague on the exact fitments. They say to fit 1.8-2.0 8v. Does this mean they will fit all 1.8-2.0 8v heads ? I have a 75bhp 1.8 cabrio and had loads of problems gettin a second hand manifold without a crack in it after my one cracked.

Are these stainless manifolds more of a universal fit because of the way the pipes meet the head instead of the vag block types ???

Any help would be great

Dino

Correct...when I had mine done, I went through 3 sellers and 5 manifolds from eBay before I got one that actually fits.  Honestly, I would not buy one off eBay...save yourself the hassle and pay a little more to get one straight from a manufacturer.  The one I got in the end was a SuperSprint one...even that only just fitted, required 1 person with a strap pulling it into place while a 2nd bolted it down.  What a nightmare that was...all because of dodgy eBay parts.  I reckon most of the manifolds being sold on eBay are either factory rejects or being sold BECAUSE they don't fit.

The bolt holes that are supposed to join up to the block just didn't line up, a couple of them as much as an inch out...and you try bending stainless steal pipes any more than a couple millimeters!

Full exhaust system/remapped/Air-Filter...mmm...and thats it for now...  PS- Must change this picture! Its too big and due to a speed bump under my rear right wheel, the front right looks like its in the air  ><
