VW DRIVING SCHOOL

Don't really know which section should I post this topic & I just choose this one. My apology if it is the wrong section to post.
I know Audi has one & so does Porsche.
What about VW or for that matter any private advanced driving schools can you guys recommend?

Not sure about in the UK, but done some "safety training" in a MK6 golf when i was over at the autostadt, Wolfsburg last April, which was fun. The instructor was a good laugh.

Can't remember how long we were on the track for, 30mins or an hour
MK6 GTI, 3 door, candy white, 18" monza shadow, Xenons, RCD 510 w "dynaudio", sunroof, rear view camera, cruise control & free servicing.
Ordered 28/10/2009. BW07 confirmed. production complete 10/02/2010. Arrived at dealers 17/02/2010. Driving on a 10 plate 01/03/2010.

was going to take the current car to a track, but then remembered I was trading it in for the Mk6 lol

Would seriously love to know how to drive a GTI on track, wonder if there's one out there in the UK with mk6 GT's (doubt it as they'd still be waiting for them to be delivered lol).

I agree it would be really good to attend a trackday driving GTIs (not your own obviously, you don't want to razz the nuts off your own motor!)

Even Vauxhall have trackdays for the VXR cars

(looks like it's all sold out though :( )

Do you want track or road training ?- they are a million miles apart.

For fast road driving / advanced training  then give John Cave a call at Drivetrain   www.drivetrain.co.uk    The best day i've had out in a car, excellent training if exhausting, and good value for money at under £300.  John also occassionally organises days at Prodrive proving ground for a mixture of pseudo track, road and skid control on the watered sections.  Its the best aoptional extra you can buy for your car !

There are other places too such as Cadence who operate road driving skills - the back of Evo magazine has plenty of adverts.

You also need to consider whether you want to pursue Rospa driver ratings - some fast road courses work to Rospa, others not so much (Rospa are more strict about how much of the road you can utilise for instance)

There's lots of local IAM groups, using police instructors as examiners but approved drivers for tuition (you arrange your own 'lessons' on a hour/2 hour basis.

Also buy yourself a copy of the 'Roadcraft' - advancedpolice drivers handbook, available form most book shops/Amazon - it gives the most conprehensive but concise explanation of advanced road driving.

For track driving then most major circuits have some form of driving school, and there is a lso the like of the Don Palmer training days.  Just don't consider being able to drive on track as good practice for the road.

Can't get into www.drivetrain.co.uk (I think the URL is wrong)
Can't find it under "search" either
There have www.drivetrain.com (more on car parts)
Pls check drivetrain URL or their contact number will do.
Thanx mate.

You use your own (unless John won't fit in, so unless you have a town car or Lotus Elise you'll be fine - its one to one on road training - 30 minute sessions with 15 minute breaks to discuss/learn off road. Total time with John around 6 hours, your brain won't take any more !  Excellent fun.
