New to the site
« on: 18 December 2009, 07:51 »
Morning chaps/chapesses. New to the site, just registered, but have been an avid follower for some time, excellent posts, really excellent.  September the 8th order, delivery date (hopefully) second week in Jan.  Build spec as follows

Pearl Black 3dr GTI
RCD 510
18" Alloys
DSG

And thats it for the pimping!

Can't wait to get it, had a Mark IV 3dr GTTDI and I loved it, but it died at 120,000 miles so traded in for a Honda Civic Type S.......

Not good, and will be glad to get back into the VW fold a.s.a.p. when, and if I get it I will of course post the pictures.

Cheers all and Merry Xmas.  Keep the faith those that await the delivery date.
3dr, Pearl Black, 18" Monzas, RCD 510, DSG, now delivered and rattling.

Hi DJ Lennon, like you I am relativly new to the site and have ordered something very similar.

Pearl Black
18" Monza's
RCD 510
Manual

It's a company car, was meant to be delivered to the dealers on 15th December but have just been told this morning that it will be delivered during the Christmas break, so I have to wait until the first week in Jan 2010 to take possession as they don't want to reg it in 09 as it would affect the residual value, which affects my car tax! Bit gutted but for the sake of 2 weeks I'm happy to hold off.

Was looking forward to thrashing it over the Christmas break!

I think the only modification im going to make is to change thr front lights to HD15's - there have been quite a few posts on the forum from guys who say the lights are a bit yellow and look much better if more white.  As it's a company car i don't intend on spending too much on it!

Enjoy!

Welcome along mate.

Hope the motor turns up on time, there's some horror stories from people who have ordered in August, so fingers crossed VW get their act together.

Davie
MK6 GTI, 3 door, candy white, 18" monza shadow, Xenons, RCD 510 w "dynaudio", sunroof, rear view camera, cruise control & free servicing.
Ordered 28/10/2009. BW07 confirmed. production complete 10/02/2010. Arrived at dealers 17/02/2010. Driving on a 10 plate 01/03/2010.

Cheers people.  I hope it turns up on time too ,

I have been told for the last few weeks that its week 2 in Jan and that hasn't moved for a while so I have everything crossed.  It's on a lease so I negotiated the lease company down to the bare bones (on price) back in September but, to be fair, they have been excellent on the communication front, they are Newbury Leasing, if anyone is interested (up here in Swinton, greater Manchester).

As for thrashing it, I will be, when I do get it, breaking it in gently.  Read on here that, unlike most other cars nowadays, these babies still have a run in period.  Having said that Im sure I won't be able to resist a burn up or two with the flappy paddles!

When I test drove it back in August I was comparing it against the Scirroco (nice but too claustrophobic) and the Passat CC (also nice but too boring/sedate-Im only 37 ffs!) and actually I thought the golf, even on 18" rims rode better than both, a lot less skippy, even without optional ACC.  It was, without doubt, even on a short test drive, the best car I have ever driven. So composed, so taut, but yet so refined.  I just hope it measures up to my expectations after the test drive!

DJ, fingers crossed amte for 2nd week in Jan.
I also looked at the sirocco but totally agree, i thought it felt a tad claustraphobic as well. Great looking car but no Golf Gti! I was tempted by the GTD 170 but thought what the hell and went for the Gti. Ordered Pearl Black but since the day and hour I ordered I'm thinking I should have went for Candy White - although I have to hold it for 4 years from the leasing company so thought a white car for 4 years might be a bit too much as i do alot of motorway miles and it would be a nightmare to keep clean..not that black will be any easier!
Roll on early Jan 2010.

Nice one Need

I reckon you went for the right option.  Black rules (in my opinion), whilst white is very bling at the moment I do believe that, given 18 months, it will be out of favour again.  Having said all that white is uber cool atm (to all those who have ordered this option)! Also, on motorways it will look constantly dirty.

I also toyed with the GTD but the miles I do dont justify the oil burner!  And GTI sounds cooler!

A man who prefers a petrol and dislikes white cars.... hurrah!

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?
