WING MIRROR SWITCH.....?

Forgive my ignorance but there are 4 settings on the wing mirror switch/rotary knob

centre position is to thaw or de-mist, L&R is obviously to adjust the mirrors (my left mirror doesnt work and neither seem to de-mist)

but the back position (9 o'clock if  looking face on) is that to pull the mirrors in, like a beemer?

as it dont do nuffin for me...... ive got a GT TDI 110 (recently purchased, but with lots of problems)

that switch is always on in my car, & no de-misting

what does the 9 0'clock position do? it looks like its supposed to rotate the mirrors in, to avoid ppls clipping them when parked like the BM's

No uk mk4 golfs have the folding mirrors

mine has same symbol.. so has my mates leon which has folding mirrors same switch.. so i presumed like you that i have folding mirrors.. so i went VW asked them that mine did not work.. and they basically told me that they did not bother to change the switch to have one without the symbol on some gti models  and that i dont have folding mirrors but do have heated side mirrors .. so another cut corner job from the fellow germans
