With the worn key, perhaps replace the housing for a couple of $$s and re-use the expensive bits (blade and circuit board)

Bonnet switch, is it sat open circuit like that image?  I guess its the switch for the alarm and imagine if that's hanging loose then your alarm isn't being armed (thinks bonnet is open).  Standard remote locking can be set to chirp with a tweak to the ECU.
