I need to replace my Pierburg Carb!!!!!!
« on: 22 December 2009, 11:23 »
 :undecided:
Hi everyone, I have a Mk2 Golf 1.3CL which requires either a new Carb by Webber or fixing. It has been fixed once when it was running "lumpy". My VW "specialist" cleaned the carb and  it went well for about 100 miles then went "lumpy" again. Problem is Weber do not do this carb anymore and I am now not sure what to do. I don't really want to fit another Pierburg from salvage as no doubt this will happen again. I need to resolve this as it's my only car and I sourced it due to having only 9,200 miles on the clock. It now has 11,400 miles. It's a G reg 1989 five door manual 1.3CL. A nice mint example I wish to continue using and keep good. Any information out there would be most appreciated and anybody who can do the job is most welcome to pass me their details. Cheers to all and a very Merry Christmas.

Ebay for a Weber, is probably your best bet.

Matt Neck (Beavis) on here might be able to help - he mucked about with little engines like this for some time before finally manning-up and getting a proper motor.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

The only rational thing to do would be to stick a 1.8T in thus eliminating the 'carb problem

Ebay for the weber also check the freeads as they turn up occasionally. Unfortunately I punted all my weber stuff  but the 1598cc driver engine is a direct swap for the 1.3, plug and play. Would still benifit from the weber carb conversion though, never used these folk but when searching their name came up a couple of times http://bromyardvw.com/default.aspx

Best of luck with it

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.
