changed cam?
« on: 25 November 2009, 10:57 »
Hello all,

A quick one.  How would I tell if my GTI has a different (performance?) cam installed by a previous owner?  Is it as simple as the original ones have "VW" stamped on them?

Cheers,

James
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

Lol.

Basically - if your car runs a little lumpy at low revs then it may have a performance cam - if it runs nice and smooth through all the rev range its probaly the standard cam or cams.

Think its std cam - as with its new fuel pump relay - it now idles perfectly.  Phew.
