If your car is post 95 then it will be obd2 just like your mk4 and will be behind the small panel just above your ash tray, remove the ash tray and slide the little panel to the right.

thanks for all your help guys, went to euro car parts this morning and purchased new set of leads and job done £45 well spent, still need to replace the crank case breather pipe though think thats a job for the stealers.

pretty much cured now thanks, will be an easy job to replace the pipe but couldnt get the right one from euro car parts today.
