As I say, I dont roughly 65 mile round trip, all motorway apart from a few little roads so driving a huge chunk of the way in 6th gear, where did the other 1/3 of my fuel go ?

You mean you aren't taking TT's advice when running it in by staying in the one gear on the motorway!!
I felt stupid on Saturday going through to Perth up and down the gears.
Folk would overtake me and then 20 minutes later I'd catch them up and fly past them.

Fuel consumption figures on a hot hatch forum are so sad!!

If you want mpg buy a sh!tty low powered diesel!

If you want a fun hot hatch with power then put up with it

And before anyone says a remapped diesel is not and never will be a fun hot hatch with the awful noise, 300rpm power band, poor weight distribution and the need for a remap (if it aint fast standard - it aint fast!)

As usual, another helpful reply from Julie.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

I drove to Hay-on-wye from North Wales this weekend, no motorways just bendy hilly roads. Had 308 miles on the clock when I left, trip is about 120 miles one way. Am taking TTs advice re running in so only went up to 3.5K RPM. Averaged 42 MPG (DSG).
I'm happy with that. My GT TDI would do 62 MPG. But I didn't buy the GTI for economy.

If your bothered about mpg dont buy a hothatch! Other than the figure on the dash i have no idea what mine really gets, i fill it up when its out and thats it!

This would be perfect for you mate, proven 100mpg

It's not that I'm bothered. I was simply wondering why the mpg was so low compared to the figures listed. I wanted to find out if others had the same experience.

Stop worrying and drive the bloody thing!

I'd rather post topics that I'd like to discuss without w@nkers coming here to ruin a perfectly good discussion.

I think most people in this section would, unfortunately you came along and they had to bring in a mod!

Stop whinging because your mpg is a little bit low, its a new engine; what do you expect?

What's you're problem ? Your a constant pr1ck and a constant pain in the neck.

p.s. It's good for the ego to know a mod was brought in here especially for me.
