If the top end is really noisey, then i would get the oil pressure checked.
By all means use a flushing agent, but do not drive the car with it in it.

+1 get the oil pressure checked.

if that is the case dont panic. my 1.4 had a really bad knocking problem (you will hear it refered to as piston slap).

despite the noise it kept motoring on until i sold it, and i believe its still going now. so thats nearly two years and 15000-20000 miles with a bad knocking noise - but still it could go at any time!

im not overly worried about it as the car's had the noise since i got it 3 years, it's still going at 155k, but im always thinking for the future

I've heard mixed views on running the car on flush/atf for a week, some say leave the car running for an hour with it, some say run it normal for a week..

im just going to run it normal until something goes wrong, doesnt seem too bad.
