Boring...........
« on: 05 October 2009, 19:11 »
My mate bought a block from E38 for his digi. The guy claimed it was a 1.9 from TSR. I lent my mate my digital vernier to check the bore and he tells me it's 82.8mm. The standard bore size is 81mm. Would this oversize make it a 1.9?

based on some rough maths (percentage increase on bore diametre I come out at about 1840 cc based on the info youve given. If the crank was changed for one with a longer through the capacity would be increased further so you cannot completely rely on bore size.

All 1.9's built by TSR used 82.5 or 82.8 overbore but were classed as 1.9's, if you want to confirm 100% it is a TSR engine you should find extra markings around the engine number area.

or you could just measure the stroke length and bore size and work it out properly

TSR 1.9 is or should be a standard crank.

Standard cap = 1781cc x 1.05 = 1861cc. (82.8 squared/81 squared = 1.05). i.e. near enough 1900cc.
