Crystal front indicator's. HELP!!!!!
« on: 20 September 2004, 20:50 »
Hi all :).
This is my first time to this sight so please go gentle with me? ;).

I have not long bought a Golf 2 16v 1988, small bumper model and decided to change all the lights except the front as they were new when i bought it, I first did the side repeaters and they were a doddle :) and then did the rear clusters which were the Lexus crystal lights (the ones with the 3 red lights along the bottom), after taking the old ones out and then putting the new ones in, I found that the bulb holder would not fit properly, so I proceeded with hacking some plastic bits of the holders to make them fit, bah!! didnt think i would have to hack my car to make something like this fit.

I then about a week later got the front bumper indicators which after taking the old ones out and finding that the wires were soldred in place and after chopping the wires and wiring up the new ones, found that the lugs on the back of the new indicators are not long enough to go through the bumper fixture holes to latch over, so they will not stay there(grrrrrr) so I have now taken them back of and jury rigged the old ones back to hopefully get some ideas from you guys :).

I have rang the supplier and they just said "well we have sold 100's with no problems", go figure!!!

Ok if you can help in any way it would be much appreciated.

If the connector on the back still fits, just lengthen the wires?

I understand what you're asking nw, sorry!  :-[  ::)

I had that problem too, and as davidhawkins_78  said, i just used a normal nut and bolt.

Excellent thank you peeps :) I do feel a bit better now :) I had come up with the nut and bolt idea but your letters clarify it.

Thank you again :)
