Don't go for the G60 or the VR6, jump into the 16V for the simplicity and lower cost.

thats a new one

You really expected any less from me?

Obviously, for the money the man's got to spend a better choice would be a G60 Syncro Golf from Germany (and a charger rebuild), but that might be a toughie to find.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

Well...I've just taken delivery of an Audi A4 2.0 tdi.  But surprise surprise..I'll be keeping the golf.

The Audi surpasses the Golf in most respects...fuel economy..comfort..refinement...toys....safety..etc..
But everybody has an Audi A4 diesel.  How many people own a MK2 16v Gti?

I'm afriad that it will be confined to weekend toy status from now on.  But boy...what a joy to thrash on the B-roads to Brecon after spending M-F in the Audi motorway cruiser.

Man, jealous of having a "grown up", commuter.
I've just got down to one car for the first time in years( if you don't count the mk3 donor car sitting out back )
but seriously started thinking that my mk2 might not be best suited to the daily commute, what with mk3 diesels going for 400 with t&t

Mind you if I get the heater working, tracking sorted, ISV fixed, new headunit and the mk2'd make a more attractive daily...

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

dont worry about all the things said in this thread, you have an r32 now, so any mk2 is gonna feel a bit poo compared, if you fancy that one in the pistonheads link, just make sure its got reciepts for the work done and service history, and its not rotten of course, then go for it mate, 250+ brake in a mk2 shell will be mental and lots of fun. mine only has 140 on tap and i love it. good luck whatever you do.
mk2 bright blue met bits wanted in north west.
