Not starting when hot.

Having a problem with my 1998 r reg mk3 8v gti.
When cold the engine starts ok, but when its warm or hot it doesnt
Just changed the battery and coil pack for new one but made no difference.
Someone suggested a relay under the dash could be faulty.
Its a bit intermitent also, doesnt do it all the time
Any ideas from anybody would be helpfull.

is it sparking when ya turn it over on the starter when its warm?
may be worth changing relays over just in case...
see what others say and see if there is a spark when its hot!
