20v into a mk1
« on: 13 August 2009, 13:46 »
Right this question probably gets asked all the time but i am serious about doing it and need a fair few questions answering. I already have the lump out of my written off ibiza cupra remapped etc to 194bhp 266lbs/ft. Are there any companies (links/phone numbers would be much appreciated) worth getting in contact with that do this kind of project regularly like regal with vauxhalls and pug1off, k-tec for the french? Basically the questions that i need answering are to do with mounting the engine in a mk1? Driveshaft/gearbox could the ibiza ones be used?
Any replies would be very much appreciated!
Tom

they'll normaly hang off the mk1 gti mounts  but that isn't the right way to do it. if your going to put that much power into a mk1 the chassi needs a lot of help,  an NA 1.8 can make the chassi legs flex if you try.

some ppl weld a mk2 subframe in  whitch dose have a few advanatages, others reinforce and mount it the pendulum mounts or fabricate there own pendulum mounts depending how keen there feeling
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Hi

I can't remember the address, but stick 4x4 mk1 into google, might have it there, if not, when I get back to  my computer, i'll send the link.
It's a company that converted a MK1 to a Rallye and stuck a 1.8T in it
